Presenting… Inspirational Journalist

I think the scary part for me is baring my heart out in public. I have done much of that in my upcoming book. I’m slowly getting closure and will soon be pushing it out in a couple of months. It’s ready and good to go. I’m getting my graphics person work on the cover design. What I’m waiting for is the best timing. Besides, I keep adding more things. I’ve started work on the second book and then again, The Lord gave me the title of the third book. Wowzers! I didn’t see that coming.

As an aside, I’ll be doing a mini review of most of the books I’ve read. Only the Nigerian books. Have to be patriotic now. Lol. I really don’t have the time to drop Amazon reviews. Too many books. I read like three books per week. Sometimes more. Yes, I have time to read. Snatches of time on the move, errands, between school runs etc.

I pray our Nigerian youths will get back to the reading culture. All they want to do these days is playstation, games and speak bad English on social media. It’s sad really. Maybe I’m old school but reading is not only fun, it’s enlightening and informative.

Another aside on the mini book review thing. I have never read Sefi Atta, Chimamanda Adichie and all the other recent famous Nigeria authors. Despite all the raves and reviews, I’m still not inclined to pick up one to read. I’m a seasoned reader. I know what makes a good book, yet I don’t trust the judgement of most Nigerians when it comes to books. In the early 80s, people used to rave about James Hardley Chase, but I found Sidney Sheldon’s books more engaging and intriguing. I’m not saying the books by these Nigerian authors are no good. On the contrary. I just am not driven to read them. Shoot me! But that’s the essential truth.

Back to my book. Aaahhh! Deep intake of breath. I am petrified of marketing and publicity. Fame has never been an ambition for me. Not saying I have written something out of this world that will engage millions of people. No. I have a target audience. I would like to inspire women. I don’t know how, but that’s my heart’s desire.

Which brings me to the core purpose of this post. Yes, my book is out in a couple of months. Most importantly, I realise I don’t want to just be identified as an author. I’d like to be identified as an Inspirational Journalist’. My book is an inspirational journal and subsequent books until I change genre.

Yeah, that’s my new title. Inspirational Journalist. Not a Christian author or Inspirational author. An Inspirational Journalist. I journal my life, thoughts and experiences about God. I hope to gossip about the Throne’ room tins.

That’s what I call my niche, my cutting edge, my USP. That’s my story and I’m sticking to it.

Thanks for reading! I hope you have a good safe and joyful week ahead.
